Scope of Work:
Installation of an AirGas AirQuick seismic gas shut-off valve designed to automatically stop the gas supply in the event of an earthquake, helping protect the property from potential gas leaks and related hazards.
The work included disassembly of the existing gas piping and selection of the proper installation point, specifically downstream of the gas meter in accordance with safety standards. Careful consideration was given to the valve orientation, as these valves must be installed in a specific position (horizontal or vertical with downward motion) to function correctly. For this project, a horizontal configuration was selected as the most suitable option.
The gas piping layout was reconfigured to accommodate the new valve. All connections were properly assembled using approved thread sealant and pipe compound to ensure a secure and code-compliant installation. After installation, the valve was activated, the piping was professionally painted for corrosion protection and a clean finish, and the entire system was tested for gas leaks to confirm safe operation.
This type of seismic shut-off valve is often required or strongly recommended by insurance companies as a condition for residential property coverage.
